    PERFORMANCE

Powered for the road you choose to take.

AUTO START-STOP TECHNOLOGY The efficiency-minded attitude of the Escape goes further with the addition of available Auto Start-Stop Technology, which can help reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions during city driving. While the vehicle is stopped, the engine automatically shuts off and then seamlessly restarts when you step on the accelerator or when your foot leaves the brake pedal. Included with the available 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost® engines.

CURVE CONTROL AND TORQUE VECTORING CONTROL

When you're approaching a curve on wet or dry pavement, standard electronic Curve Control can sense if you're going too fast and slow you down using throttle reduction and anti-lock braking. Once you're into the curve, G-forces tend to transfer more traction to the outside tires than to the inside ones. Standard Torque Vectoring Control enhances that by transferring torque to the wheels that have the most grip, reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve.*

*Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It's always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.

    TECHNOLOGY

Life on the road made easier.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND COLLISION WARNING WITH BRAKE SUPPORT

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND COLLISION WARNING WITH BRAKE SUPPORT

Go beyond conventional cruise control. Available Adaptive Cruise Control lets you select the speed and distance you want to maintain from the vehicle in front of you. When traffic ahead slows down, you automatically slow down, and later resume the preset speed when traffic picks back up.* Collision Warning with Brake Support can alert you to a potential collision with the vehicle ahead. If you don't react in time, the brakes will precharge and increase sensitivity, providing full responsiveness when you brake.*

*Driver Assist Features are supplemental and do not replace the driver's attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle.

    LANE-KEEPING SYSTEM

The available driver-activated Lane-Keeping System can alert you to unintentional lane drifting.* Choose the Lane-Keeping Alert mode that vibrates the steering wheel when you drift too close to a lane marker - or the Lane-Keeping Aid mode that activates a directional steering torque to help guide you back to the center of the lane. Or combine the effects of both modes: Continue drifting after the steering torque is activated and the steering wheel adds the vibrating sensation.

*Lane-Keeping System does not control steering.

    CAPABILITY

    Confidently capable.

    ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE

    ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE

The new electric parking brake uses a motor at each rear caliper in place of a mechanically operated cable. It provides fingertip convenience at the touch of a switch (instead of having to pull and release a heavier lever) and frees up valuable space for storage.

How it works: (1) To set the parking brake, depress the brake pedal and pull up the switch located to the left of the gear shifter. (2) To release, hold the brake pedal, turn the ignition on, and pull the switch down. (3) To release on the go, close the door, buckle in, turn on the ignition and shift into gear; hit the accelerator pedal and the parking brake automatically releases.

    CARGO CAPACITY

The Escape can seat up to five. And its versatility lets you convert rear seat room to extra space - up to a maximum 68 cu. ft. - when transporting cargo takes priority.

Fold both rear seat backs for a flat load surface and 68 cu. ft. of total cargo space. Or fold down either of the 60/40 split rear seat backs for more cargo space and still carry one or two rear passengers. If you're carrying items such as luggage, leave both seat backs up and you have 34 cu. ft. of cargo space. On Escape models with 17-inch wheels, the load floor is adjustable: (1) high position for a flat load floor and easy loading with the seats folded; (2) low position for additional cargo room.
